“And the day came when the risk it took to stay tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
Welcome! For my first post I wanted to introduce myself, Earth & Alkemy, and how it came to be.
My name is Tarah, but also go by Rah. I can’t tell you exactly who I am without writing a book or exhausting all the words in the English language, so I won’t. But, what I can tell you is that I am constantly evolving and searching for ways to be my highest possible self. On this journey, I have found a deep-connection to the Earth and all the things that make it go ‘round. Eventually I stumbled onto the concept of permaculture, which opened so many other doors. I was sent into an upward spiral of experiences and information about environmentalism, sustainability, self-reliance, and Afro-indigenous philosophies on how we care for nature and therefore ourselves.
It’s through these ideas that Earth & Alkemy came to be. Two of the three ethics of permaculture are Earth Care and People Care. It is my belief that these things cannot be separated. We cannot love ourselves if we don’t love the Earth and vice versa. I have traveled the world and seen what happens when this piece of knowledge is lost and the lack of resources or attention given to maintain and (re)build it, and that is where Earth & Alkemy comes in.
Through this blog, these products, and this brand I hope to inspire people to take back control of their mental, physical, and spiritual health by sharing information and physical resources surrounding natural self-care, reliance, and self-love. Earth & Alkemy seeks to not only bring awareness and spread knowledge, but to help people reconnect with the natural environment, healthier lifestyle choices, and their own powers to create change.
